Meet Our Leadership Team

Two generations committed to finishing innovation and customer value.

Nathaniel Sugerman

Founder

Nathaniel Sugerman founded Providence Metallizing Company in 1951 with one simple goal: to provide innovation of finishing to customers' parts resulting in value added to their products. Starting in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, just over the Providence line, Nathaniel and his team of engineers created and adapted equipment to produce fine jewelry finishes for the growing costume jewelry industry in the area. His vision of combining art and science in finishing techniques laid the foundation for what would become a 200,000 square foot operation serving multiple industries. Nathaniel pioneered innovative finishes such as Quartz and Aurora Borealis that could not be replicated with standard polishing and plating methods. His commitment to innovation over imitation and relentless focus on adding value to customer products established Providence Metallizing Company as a leader in the finishing industry for over six decades.

Richard Sugerman

2nd Generation Owner and Finishing Expert

Richard Sugerman is the second-generation owner and finishing expert who carries on the mission established by his father, Nathaniel Sugerman. By combining art and science in a high-volume environment, Richard has forged a path not taken by any other finishing company in the industry. Under his leadership, Providence Metallizing Company has expanded its capabilities to include over 30 different finishes on plastic substrates, advanced PVD methods, UV coating systems for the cosmetic industry, and glass metallizing innovations. Richard has maintained the company's reputation for fast turnaround, highest quality, and excellence in customer service while scaling operations to handle over a million parts per week. His expertise spans electroplating, vacuum metallizing, and advanced finishing techniques across diverse industries including cosmetics, electronics, medical devices, and architectural applications. Richard's commitment to innovation has secured approved supplier status with global leaders like Estée Lauder, L'Oreal, Avon, and Elizabeth Arden, establishing Providence Metallizing Company as the only reputable domestic source for high-quality cosmetic finishing over the past 20 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to nickel plate a part?
