Founder
Nathaniel Sugerman founded Providence Metallizing Company in 1951 with one simple goal: to provide innovation of finishing to customers' parts resulting in value added to their products. Starting in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, just over the Providence line, Nathaniel and his team of engineers created and adapted equipment to produce fine jewelry finishes for the growing costume jewelry industry in the area. His vision of combining art and science in finishing techniques laid the foundation for what would become a 200,000 square foot operation serving multiple industries. Nathaniel pioneered innovative finishes such as Quartz and Aurora Borealis that could not be replicated with standard polishing and plating methods. Richard Sugerman is the second-generation owner and finishing expert who carries on the mission established by his father, Nathaniel Sugerman.
